Who we Are
Iron Horse was founded by Barry and Audrey Sterling, trailblazers with a dream. Our estate vineyard is not only our business; it’s our home. Three generations live on our fog-kissed 300-acre reserve, inspiring our dedication to excellence, vision, and a deep sense of place—past, present, and future.

Our Sense of Place
Iron Horse produces sustainably farmed, estate-bottled still and sparkling wines with a distinct “sense of place”. They are specific to the Green Valley of the Russian River Valley AVA, plus the uniqueness of our vineyard, and the vintage at hand. As a result, our wines are elegant, bright, quality-focused, and highly nuanced. We hold a deep and lasting commitment to environmental stewardship, protecting the land, water, and wildlife that make Iron Horse possible. But above all, we strive for balance: balance in the vineyard, balance in the glass. For us, balance equals beauty.
Celebrating the Year of the Horse
In the Lunar calendar, 2026 is the Year of the Horse, a fitting and fortunate alignment as Iron Horse celebrates its 50th Anniversary. In Lunar tradition, the Horse symbolizes vitality, momentum, and forward motion, qualities that resonate deeply with how we think about our next chapter. To celebrate this rare convergence, we release our Year of the Horse Blanc de Blancs and send our warmest wishes to all those born in the Year of the Horse – across generations and newly arriving in 2026.
